A career gemologist, teaching the trade in Yangon
U Myo Naing founded YGIL to bring rigorous, internationally-aligned gemological education and independent laboratory testing to Myanmar. He teaches every course from direct experience — in the lab, in the classroom, and with the dealers who pass through Tamwe Township every week.
His credentials span the major international awarding bodies, from GIA and the Gemological Association of Great Britain to HRD Antwerp and the Accredited Gemologists Association.

How U Myo Naing teaches
Each YGIL course is built around hands-on observation. Students work with loupes, microscopes, refractometers, spectroscopes and a wide reference collection of natural, treated and synthetic stones — guided step by step through the questions a working gemologist is asked at the bench every day.
Theory is taught in the same sequence it is used in the trade: identity first, then treatment observation, then origin opinion, then value. By the end of a programme, students can defend each conclusion they write on a report.
