YGIL Basic Diamond Course — June–July 2026 Recap

Highlights and photos from our most recent two-week Basic Diamond Course at the YGIL Tamwe classroom.

Our latest YGIL Basic Diamond Course ran through June and July 2026, welcoming a fresh cohort of traders, jewellers, and curious enthusiasts into the Tamwe classroom.

What students practised

  • Grading colour against a master set under daylight-equivalent lamps
  • Plotting inclusions on a 10x loupe
  • Distinguishing diamond from the most common simulants (CZ, moissanite, synthetic rutile)
  • Building a working vocabulary they could carry onto the trading floor

What the cohort says

Students reported that the most useful takeaway was the daily practice sessions — repeatedly grading the same stones under different conditions until the eye and the language agreed.

If you missed this round, the next Basic Diamond Course is being scheduled for late 2026. Email yangongemlab@gmail.com to be added to the wait list.
